This past weekend marked a joyous and memorable milestone in the musical journeys of Veda and Sanskriti—their debut small concert, Swara Manjari. The event was not just a performance, but a heartfelt celebration of discipline, learning, and the blossoming of two young artists into their own voices.
A Tale of Two Talents
Veda, a passionate and diligent student, has been studying both Hindustani Sitar and Carnatic Vocal at our school SRSKA – Swara Raga Sudha Kala Academy. Under the guidance of Guru Mani for Sitar, and with the expert tutelage of Guru Usha for Carnatic Vocal, Veda has steadily and gracefully matured as a musician. Her commitment culminated recently in the completion of her dual 4-year music certification from Silicone Andhra University, California for Carnatic Vocal and Hindustani Instrumental (sitar) —a formal acknowledgment of her years of dedication and perseverance.
Sanskriti, equally dedicated, has been immersed in Carnatic Vocal training, also at SRSKA, and has similarly earned her 4-year certification from Silicone Andhra University. Her music reflects a deep sensitivity and poise that belies her age. Both of these young musicians now hold college-credit eligible certifications, giving them not only artistic merit but academic value as well—a remarkable achievement!
A Moment on the Summit
While the path of music is lifelong, full of new ragas, nuanced interpretations, and deeper understanding, Veda and Sanskriti have reached a significant peak. It is a moment worth pausing for—a breath to take in the view before continuing onward and upward. They now join a proud tradition of young artists who have not only embraced classical music but have also honored it through disciplined learning and heartfelt performance.
The Swara Manjari was filled with sweet melodies, thoughtful phrasing, and a gentle but confident assertion of musical identity. It was a joy to watch them perform—individually expressive, yet rooted in tradition.
The Journey Continues
Let this be a gentle reminder to both performers and all of us watching—no one truly “masters” music. It is an ocean of endless beauty and subtlety. But every now and then, we reach a shore, a milestone, a swara manjari—a garland of notes woven with love, effort, and aspiration.
Congratulations, Veda and Sanskriti! May this be the first of many milestones in your musical journeys. Continue to learn, grow, and inspire. The world awaits your music.
With blessings and joy,
– Gurus Usha & Mani
